From the necropolis of Dimov Grob, one exclusive find stands out, so far unique of its kind on our territory. In the construction of Grave 32, a stone stele was used as a side slab, engraved with a male figure in full military or ceremonial attire.
The anatomical details of the head and hands are schematically indicated in the soft sandstone. The head is shaped into a pointed top, with two incised semicircular lines that form part of jewelry – a necklace or torques. On the chest are depicted a battle axe and a dagger.
The clothing consists of a long tunic, fastened with a belt at the waist; beneath the belt, the tunic has a semicircular form ending in fringes. From the right shoulder to the left hip, across the tunic runs a diagonal strap – a belt that further emphasizes the martial character of the figure. The iconography of the stele, with its unmistakable attributes of power, represents a military dignitary – a forefather or mythical ancestor.
